There Is A Door We All Pass Through

The Autumn Season of Life

We are like leaves upon the tree that through the window I

     can see

A few there are refuse to fall

they have not answered autumn's call

They flit and flutter in the breeze that ~ ~rushes through~ ~

     the oak and maple trees

They most enjoy the e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d time

They spend in this exotic life

and as they change from green to gold

There is a message they u-n-f-o-l-d

I read it in the simple way

They say goodnight at close of day

They all enjoy their short stay

Perhaps it is because they know

That after the winter and the snow

New Life will follow with a mate

which in time will prove life can be great

They seem happy as they cling

As if w.a.i.t.i.n.g. there for spring

But if they,

like we has passed three score

They would know that spring will come no more

And that their days have been our years

Some filled with joy

Some filled with tears

And that the one which has just past

was best of all

though it be ... last
